商標登録を審査する特許庁が、前身組織の設立から１３０年余りの歴史で初めて、出願者として商標権を得たことが分かった。同庁が推進する特産品のブランド化施策「地域団体商標制度」のロゴマーク。審査機関が自らの出願をチェックし、権利を登録するという手続きに、担当者は「ロゴの役割を重視した極めて例外的な措置」とする。

2018年2月から販売を開始した「八丁味噌コーラ」が出荷停止になった。使用していた味噌は老舗の「まるや八丁味噌」製だったが、同社製の八丁味噌が農林水産省が定めたGI制度で採用されておらず、八丁味噌をコーラの名称に使えないことが判明したためだった。知名度の低いGI制度のあおりを受けた形だが、4月に名称を変えて販売を再開した。
