国際特許、アジアが初の過半数 １８年出願 中国、首位の米に迫る 世界知的所有権機関（ＷＩＰＯ）が１９日発表した世界の企業などによる２０１８年の国際特許登録の出願件数は、地域別でアジアが５０．５％と初めて過半数を占めた。欧州２４．５％、北米２３．１％となり、ＷＩＰＯのガリー事務局長は「技術革新分野で西から東へと歴史的な移動が起きている」と指摘した。
熊本県は７日、くまモンの中華圏での名称を「酷ＭＡ萌（ｋｕ・ｍａ・ｍｅｎｇ）」から「熊本熊（ｘｉｏｎｇ・ｂｅｎ・ｘｉｏｎｇ）」に変更すると明らかにした。「熊本熊」は現地ファンの通称で、熊本県のキャラクターとアピールできることから正式名に採用した。

去年、流行語大賞にも輝いた女子カーリング、ロコソラーレの「そだねー」。この言葉の商標登録を出願していた北見工業大学の生協と帯広の菓子メーカー六花亭に、去年11月、特許庁が申請を却下する通知を送っていたことがわかりました。ロコソラーレの鈴木夕湖選手の母校でもある北見工業大学の生協は菓子・文具・洋服の分野で、六花亭は菓子やパンの分野で、それぞれ申請していました。
