農林水産省は6月14日、「大栄西瓜」、「津南の雪下にんじん」、「善通寺産四角スイカ」の3点を新たに地理的表示（ＧＩ）として登録したと発表した。鳥取県の「大栄西瓜」はＪＡ鳥取中央が登録を取得した。交配後、約48日ごろまで完熟させたスイカ。形状、品質にバラツキが少なく、安定した品質・供給ができるスイカとして高い評価を得ている。
