商標登録を自分でという方は特に必見です。海外の機関やWIPOなどの国際機関に代理人なしで出願した場合には、しばしば直接本人に振り込め詐欺のような英文の手紙やメールが届きます。商標は登録に向けて公開（Publish）される場合が多く、公開された情報を基に名前や住所、商標などを入力して、誰でも商標登録の出願人に宛てた手紙を作ることができます（何で自分の名前知ってんだろうと思わないで下さい。）。外国にも良く分からない素人を騙してお金を取ることを生業とする輩が存在し、そのような手紙に誘導されると、悪事をする者を経済的に助けることになります。EUIPOにもmisleading notice（偽通知）とかmisleading invoice(偽請求書）に警鐘を鳴らすページがありますが、下記のURLは米国特許商標庁のページです。架空の機関のリストと偽通知・偽請求書の中身が参照できますので、もし英文の手紙やメールが偽物と疑わしい場合は参考にしてみて下さい。

コメント：記事は英文の元のものも含めて更新と言っていますが、実際は新出願で更新登録出願ではありません。今月16日に出願されたばかりです。古い商標が存在していたので”更新”なる表現を用いたと推測します。
