東京都の小池百合子知事は6日の定例会見で、6月23日に誕生した上野動物園の双子のジャイアントパンダについて、名前の募集を始めると発表した。募集期間は8月7日から20日まで。雄、雌それぞれの名前をカタカナ9文字以内で、動物園公式サイト（応募フォームは7日午前9時半にオープン）、または上野動物園内などに設置された応募箱から応募する。多摩動物公園、葛西臨海水族園、井の頭自然文化園、上野恩賜公園管理所、井の頭恩賜公園案内所にも設置。応募は誰でも可能で、1人1回まで。名前の選定は、名前候補選考委員会での検討などを経て決定し、発表される。
